A lot of the time business meetings are drawn out and boring. Many of the people lose interest and the important information is forgotten. Only call a meeting when it’s vital so that it becomes a more significant activity.
Start by working out if you really need to call a meeting. If the issue can be resolved with a conference call or simply talking to an individual employee this might be the best option. You may need more than one staff member but try to keep the numbers low as too many people in the same room may cause their attention to waver.
The meeting could be on business law, or what was on TV last night, but whatever it is, set times for when it begins and ends. A proper agenda should be planned and the goal of the meeting should be met. The agenda should be sent around the office so that everyone knows what time to attend.
Start the meeting with an easy topic. This will help ease into the more complicated, thornier issues. Each subject should receive a specific amount of time so that discussions can follow. Involving more than just the speaker will keep the meeting from getting stale.
